How it checks the figures
01Every row against the balance
The opening balance plus money in, less money out, must give each running balance and the closing balance. A row that breaks the chain is marked in red, so a misread is never silent.
02PDFs beat scans
A PDF from online banking carries its own text and reads exactly. Scans and photos are read by text recognition and always marked for checking.
03Fix it here, by keyboard
Edit any cell, split a row read as one, merge a row read as two, delete or add rows, or set the year when the statement leaves it out.
04A bank layout it doesn't know?
It still reads by the column headings, and the balance check shows exactly where it went wrong. Tell M.A. Whately and the reader is tuned for that bank.
